On the weekend of 23 and 24 August 2025 the Friends of St Bartholomews<\/a> held events to celebrate the 850th anniversary of the foundation of the church. It is a grade 1 listed building<\/a> added to the offical list on 10 January 1955. It remains an active church with services on 2 sundays a months and with the Church of St Andrews forms part of combined parish with St Andrew’s and St Bartholomew’s, Churchdown <\/a>. The photos below are a selection taken during that weekend. Further information about the history will be added at a later date.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The church has a peel of 6 bells dating from 1933 and 2014, mounted in 1828 bell frame. There are also 2 bells removed in 2014 one dated to circa 1700. There is a facebook page<\/a> for a ringing team but this was last updated in 2021. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Information presented at the open weekend, held to coincide with the Feast of St Bartholomew<\/a>, claims the church was built (or maybe rebuilt) in 1175. This is suggested to have taken place because of a well recorded miracle that occurred in August two or three years earlier.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n
