{"id":75,"date":"2023-08-11T10:56:45","date_gmt":"2023-08-11T10:56:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/chastownley.com\/?p=75"},"modified":"2023-08-11T10:56:45","modified_gmt":"2023-08-11T10:56:45","slug":"gloucester-rural-district-council-records","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chastownley.com\/?p=75","title":{"rendered":"Gloucester Rural District Council Records"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Gloucester Rural District Council was a pre 1974 Gloucestershire District Council covering 36 parishes encircling the County Borough of Gloucester  stretching northwards along the eastern bank of the River Severn to Forthampton and Chaceley, to the south  of Gloucester and also two parishes on the western bank  of Newnham and Westbury on Severn. It also covered a group of parishes to the South of Gloucester formerly in the Whitminster or Wheatenhust Rural District in the 1930&#8217;s. IIn 1966 areas on the north of Gloucester including Longlevens and Hucclecote were transferred to the County Borough of Gloucester.  On re-organisation in 1974, parts of this area were incorporated into Stroud, Tewkesbury and the Forest of Dean district council areas. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From work on the history of the prefabs constructed by A W Hawksley Limited at Brockworth I have been dipping into the minute books of the Gloucester Rural District Council and two products are under construction from this work. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>An index list of Council Minutes &#8211; Primarily from Pages I have photographed for research purposes<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>An initial list of pages of the minutes where Building Bylaw plans were approved or not, in time, this should develop into an index of plan approvals, cross linked to the Gloucestershire Archives record, where the plan is in the archives.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The main run of Gloucester Rural District Council deposited archives can be found on the Archives Catologue at <a href=\"https:\/\/catalogue.gloucestershire.gov.uk\/records\/DA27\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/catalogue.gloucestershire.gov.uk\/records\/DA27\">DA27<\/a>. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Gloucester Rural District Council was a pre 1974 Gloucestershire District Council covering 36 parishes encircling the County Borough of Gloucester stretching northwards along the eastern bank of the River Severn to Forthampton and Chaceley, to the south of Gloucester and also two parishes on the western bank of Newnham and Westbury on Severn.
